Put the words design and home together and you’ll light up the eyes of some. For the rest of us though, we might rather have those people make our home look fantastic for us. Floor tiling is great way to make your home light up your eyes and you need to at least have an idea of what to do to keep safe. This is as simple as getting the right equipment. Going cheap on the right equipment will help, but safety equipment is something you’ll use over and over again, so it’s good to go with quality even though you’ll have to pay more. What do need to protect and how?

You will have to protect your head firstly. A hard hat will do the trick so while not putting yourself in harm’s way, you won’t have to worry as much about things falling on your head.
You will have to protect your eyes. Dust and loose pieces of material are the norm for any building job and having them fly into your eyes is at the very least, uncomfortable.

You will have to protect your hearing. Getting ear muffs or ear plugs will keep your ears from ringing after using any machine. With floor tiling, you’ll be cutting tiles so prevent that buzz from damaging your hearing.
You will have to protect your skin. Getting a long sleeved shirt and wearing pants will do much to help you from getting scratched or cut. A good pair of gloves will do the same. You also don’t want to come in contact with certain chemicals. Industrially rated clothing is best.
You will have to protect your knees. We might think our knees are for supporting our weight but they only do so much for a short period of time. Knees are hard but damaged knees are painful.

You will also have to protect your feet. Kicking your toes or having something fall on them can very very painful. Getting steel capped boots is very much worth it.
All of this isn’t as much as it sounds but goes a long way in keeping you going. Floor tiling is quite the job, but you can do it safely. IF you want more info, just post a comment on www.tilestogo.com.au and we’ll get back to you soon.
